Letter from the Administrator
January 23, 2012
Dear Veritas Parents,
As we begin registration for the 2012-2013 school year, we are reminded of Veritas’ mission statement, “to communicate the truth, train the mind, and cultivate the heart in a Christ-honoring environment.” Our goal is to partner with you in equipping the students to think Christianly while they interact with a secular culture. We are so grateful for your partnership in preparing the students to see life “through the lens of Scripture.” We appreciate your prayers and support in teaching and training the next generation to manifest a godly impact in different arenas of influence for the glory of God.
During each year we evaluate what we are doing at Veritas and how we can make improvements. One area is related to new families coming into Veritas and understanding their commitment to Veritas academically and financially. Because the humanities teachers are paid per student, when families enroll and then withdraw, it is difficult on the teachers financially. As a result, we are instituting a new Withdrawal Policy. “Once a student begins the semester at Veritas, the parents are responsible for paying tuition for the entire semester.” We are so thankful for those of you who have been committed to your financial responsibilities and have made a commitment to Veritas.
We have made adjustments to the tuition schedule for the 2012-2013 school year. The tuition for science and math will remain the same. We will continue to offer the discount to all those who pay in full by September 1st and offer the additional discount for multiple children. Tuition for humanities for the 2012-2013 school year will be as follows:
Kindergarten – 12th Grades 1st child - $195/month
2nd child- $ 175/month
3rd+child -$ 165/month
Graduation Fee: $100 for all seniors participating in graduation
Dual Enrollment: With the cost of compiling multiple transcripts for students participating in dual enrollment for humanities, it has become necessary to charge a fee of $200 per year. This cost is only for dual enrolled students who are not taking the humanities curriculum at Veritas.
The Alpharetta Open House in December was well attended. Thank you for sharing with your friends and family about Veritas. We are looking forward to the Open Houses in the coming weeks.
Due to the numbers that are interested in the Alpharetta campus, it is imperative to re-enroll as soon as possible so that you do not lose your place in the class. In December, we had 29 families attend the Open House, and several of them have already submitted their applications.
Once again, we will offer humanities classes on Wednesday and Thursday. The students currently enrolled on Wednesday will have first priority for that day. On Wednesday for grades 7th – 12th, we will once again use Restoration Church of God for the humanities classes. We will begin classes for the 2012-2013 school year the week of August 20th. We
will not have an early start for the math and science classes at the Alpharetta campus this year.
We will once again offer an AP English class that Mrs. Barnwell will be teaching
. The AP classes we offer are for 11th and 12th graders. It is important for you to read the information on this AP course description and understand that there is a specific recommendation process to follow. The recommendation form is on the portal under Links and Documents. The humanities cost when taking this course will be $220 per month. If there is sufficient interest, we may also offer an AP English class on Wednesdays at Restoration. Once you secure a recommendation from your English teacher, you can submit that recommendation form to us. At this time you can let us know which day you would prefer.
It is with great excitement to announce that we will be offering a Kindergarten class next fall at the
Dunwoody campus. Susan Ouellette has created a dynamic curriculum for our Kindergarteners, and we look forward to sharing it with parents and students at the Dunwoody campus. We are beginning to interview teacher candidates for the Kindergarten class.
Please find the re-enrollment form attached. This form is also on the website.
When completing the re-enrollment application, please fill out an application for
each child in your family. You only need to submit the personal information one time, such as address, phone numbers, and your email address.
The registration fee will be $100 per student before June 1 and $150 per student after June 1. You are responsible for buying your own books, but we have several options to make the buying experience easier. Homeschool Hangout can order for you either by going to their bookstore or buying it online. Another option that carries all the books on the book list is through the VCS Bookstore (
www.vcsbookstore.com).
It is imperative that you order the exact ISBN number for each book listed. It is also extremely important that you buy the entire curriculum required. Your students cannot attend Veritas if they are not equipped with the materials they need.
As we begin accepting re-enrollment applications, we need to know as soon as possible if you are planning to return for the next school year. If you are unable to pay the registration fee at this time but would like to return, please send the registration form with a note telling us when you would be able to pay it. The registration fee should to be paid by June 10th, unless other arrangements are made. We have had many inquiries regarding Veritas, but our first priority is to provide a place for your son or daughter, so we will need to know your plans as soon as possible.
You will have priority status over new students until February 10th.
Registration procedure for current Veritas students only:
We will begin accepting registrations from current students immediately.
In order to register, you must submit one completed registration form (the attached form) per student registering and the appropriate registration fee(s).
Your current tuition must be up-to-date in order for your child to register for the 2012-2013 school year.
Registration procedure for siblings of current VERITAS students:
In order to apply, siblings must submit a completed “New Student” application. Please go online to our website (veritasschools.com) and complete the application for new students.
You are not required to submit another testimony since you have previously submitted one.
We are grateful for your faithful support during this school year through prayer and participation in Veritas. God has truly blessed us in giving the opportunity to partner with you in the education of your children.
Sincerely,
Dave Kinsey
